The siege at Delhi Public School, Srinagar was barely over with two militants of Lashkar being gunned down that a fresh intel input has come to the fore in Kashmir. If the reports are to be believed, it predicts that terrorists are planning to attack Amarnath Yatra this year.

The Intel report that India Today has exclusively accessed is more specific this time which states as much as 150 pilgrims can be targeted with the intent to kill. It also states that around 100 cops are also likely to be 'eliminated'.

The intel report states that the idea is to create a communal tension through out the country by attacks on the pilgrimage that holds significance for Hindus. The intel input has been received from the office of the SSP Anantnag. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has put all its forces on high alert after this report. The Army has also been kept in the loop.

This comes at a time when 2 Lashkar terrorists, Abu Talha and Abu Huraira were gunned down today.

In the last one week alone, there have been multiple attacks insecurity forces in Pulwama, Kulgaum, Tral, Awantipora and different parts of south Kashmir.

It's also coming on the eve of Eid after which experts believe that fresh terror surge is going to be witnessed in the Valley.

The Army has already gone on record to say it is fully equipped to conduct the yatra peacefully this year. But memories of August 2000 is still fresh in the minds of the people of this country when a deadly attack on the pilgrimage took as many as 30 lives, mostly being Hindus. The security forces and the Mehbooba government will have an uphill task this summer to ensure the intel report is paid heed to in letter and spirit and lives are not lost.

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) started the registration for the annual pilgrimage to the cave shrine devoted to Lord Shiva on Monday. The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to start on June 25, but the registration process across the country started much earlier to enable the state administration to make suitable arrangements for the pilgrims. The pilgrimage will end with Raksha Bandhan on Aug 2.

The process of registering pilgrims for this year's Amarnath Yatra commenced on May 7 simultaneously for both the Baltal and Chandanwari routes, through 174 bank branches and via the internet based e-registration system. The decision to commence the registration for this year's yatra was taken during an extensive review meeting held by Governor N N Vohra, who also is chairman of the shrine board.

The pilgims' registration will commence across the country at 121 designated branches of the Jammu & Kashmir Bank, 49 branches of the Yes Bank and four district Cooperative Banks. The complete details of all the registration centres are on the board's website, www.shriamarnathjishrine.com.

The board has required that every pilgrim should have a health certificate issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP). During the 2009, 2010 and 2011 yatras respectively, 45, 68 and 107 pilgrims had lost their lives.

Since most pilgrims do not pay serious attention to the health advisories, the board has decided that they should undergo a compulsory health check-up and furnish a health certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner when they apply for a yatra permit.

The Meteorological Department will also establish three advanced warning systems (AWS) at the Amarnath cave, Pahalgam and Baltal base camps to ensure better forecast of weather conditions for the smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra this year. The Met Department has also decided to install weather display board at the Nunwan Base Camp as well as at Baltal Base Camp for the benefit of Yatris.

The Met is also in the process of establishing Doppler Radar at Srinagar for which the procurement process is at an advanced stage. Once established, this will provide a huge facility for more accurate weather prediction in the Kashmir valley.

Led by Mahant Deependra Giri, the head priest and the custodian of the Holy Mace, the procession began its six day journey to the cave shrine amid Vedic chants from Shri Amareshwar Temple in the morning.
The cave situated at an altitude of 3,888 meters houses an ice stalagmite which resembles Shivlingam.
Mahant Giri offered puja in the Amareshwar temple, located at a stones throw distance from the headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation (JKLF). Mahant lauded the role of the locals for extending all help to pilgrims and making the pilgrimage successful. We will pray for the peace and prosperity in the state at the holy cave, he said and expressed satisfaction that the pilgrimage remained peaceful.
He said the Chhari-Sthapana ceremony was performed at Shri Amareshwar temple on August 2, where the holy Mace was kept for darshan of devotees.
As described in scriptures, Chhari Pujan is an important ritual performed traditionally on Nag-Panchami (Shravan Shukla Paksha Panchmi) before the commencement of yatra.
However during the height of Kashmir insurgency yatra was widely promoted and the duration extended to two months from traditional 15 days.
Already 6.50 lakh pilgrims from all across India have visited the cave shrine since June 29 with a hope to have a glimpse of the Shiv Lingam.
However the unprecedented rush of pilgrims this year coupled with rise in temperatures has contributed to the ice Shivling in the holy mountain cave completely melting away more than 10 days before the end of the yatra.
Mahant Giri said before eruption of pro-independence uprising in Kashmir, Sadhus on foot carrying Chhari- Mubarak used to start their journey for holy shrine only after Chari-Pujan. Chhari-Mubarak is kept in the temple for Darshan till commencement of main course of pilgrimage and it will reach the cave Shrine on Shravan-Purnima that falls on August 13.
He said, The True Trust founded by him has made all the arrangements, including food, accommodation and transportation, for sadhus and other devotees coming from across the country during the pilgrimage.
As per age old customs the devotees, led by Mahant Giri, holding the holy Mace visited the historic Shankarcharya temple atop Mount Solomon last week on the occasion of Haryalic-Amavasya.
The Mace was taken to Sharika-Bhawani Temple in the downtown city to pay obeisance to the Goddess after that.
After night halts at Pampore, Bijbehara, Martand, Aishmuquam, Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panchtarani the silver mace would reach the holy cave on Shravan-Purnima the Raksha-Bandhan day.
Pilgrimage will conclude on August 13 when the holy Mace will be taken inside the cave shrine.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-27173324754462865282011-08-05T05:01:00.000-07:002011-08-05T05:05:24.939-07:00Discover the Beauty of the Top Kashmir Tourist Places
India is an incredible country and is considered to be the best place to go for holidays. The names of three members of the team have been finalised. Baba Amarnath Yatra Niyas (BAYN) presi

dent Surinder Agarwal and general secretary Karan Singh Charak will be there along with Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) chief executive officer RK Goel.
The team will fly to Amarnath from Srinagar by helicopter.

“(In accordance with) the ritual, governor NN Vohra, who is chairman of the board, should be the first person to perform the ceremony at the holy cave. We are expecting him to lead the four-member team,” said Dhaneshwar Singh Jamwal, BAYN convener.

This year the date of the beginning of the yatra had become controversial. The SASB wanted it to begin on June 29 but the Niyas was insistent on June 15, the Jayesth purnima day (the full moon night of the last day of the month of Jayesth). The public is not enthused.

“Whatsoever agreement has been reached between the board and Niyas for the June 15 symbolic puja holds no relevance now, but it has hurt people's sentiments badly. The case of Jammu’s central university, the BJP’s cross-voting and now the religious tampering of the issues have made people lose faith in the Jammu leadership,” said a retired employee of the state government.

The BAYN is a state-level formation that came into existence only after the 2008 Amarnath imbroglio, when land was allotted to yatris but was taken back under pressure, and is supported by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

“The need was felt to act as the watchdog of the activities of the administration as well as the SASB regarding the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnatah yatra,” said a member of the Niyas.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-69585792981125098982011-06-26T23:02:00.001-07:002011-06-26T23:02:48.409-07:00All set for Amarnath pilgrimage from June 29The stage is all set for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in Kashmir from June 29, with gathering of ascetics and pilgrims in the run-up to the yatra's official beginning. The pilgrims have to trek high mountain passes and glaciers to reach the shrine.

Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) RK Goyal disclosed that 240,000 pilgrims have registered for the pilgrimage this year.

An on-the-spot registration procedure too has been put in place at the base camps but within the daily limit of 5,000 pilgrims.

Goyal said the pilgrimage will start June 29 with the first "darshan" and prayers at the cave shrine, and it will last until Aug 13.

Last year, nearly half a million pilgrims had visited the shrine.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-56861539023521538652011-06-20T23:59:00.000-07:002011-06-21T00:00:04.841-07:00Effective disaster management plan for Amarnath Yatra: J-K govtThe NDMA has put in place an "effective" disaster management plan for this year's Amarnath yatra and mock drills at two base camps will be held later this month, an official spokesperson said.

The review meeting of the disaster management plan was held on Saturday and was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and NDMA member Muzaffar Ahmad.

They discussed the modalities for putting in place the plan for the ensuing yatra, the spokesperson said.

The NDMA shall be conducting table-top mock drill exercises simultaneously at the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps on June 25.

"Two NDMA teams from Delhi shall overview the conduct of these mock drills with the objective of evolving an optimum level of preparedness and response during a worst case scenario, evacuation arrangements, medical preparedness and arrangements in regard to hygiene and sanitation at the various Base and en-route Camps," the spokesperosn said.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-6150352022904689722011-06-20T23:58:00.001-07:002011-06-20T23:58:56.334-07:001,392 pilgrims from state register for Shri Amarnath Ji YatraAndhra Pradesh tops the list of pilgrims from south India for the Amarnath Yatra, who have registered themselves either through e-registration or by submitting written applications at bank registration counters.

“1392 pilgrims have registered their names for Amarnath Yatra that will commence on June 29 and culminate on August 13 and all applications were sold out by June 20.

The Abids and Pathergatti Jammu & Kashmir Bank branches have finished their registration quota in the last one and a half months,” said ML Sharma, executive manager J&K Bank, Pattergatti branch.

He added that all applications were sold out, even though the last date for registration is June 28. Numerous lofty temples which trace their origins to antiquity, always remain chock-a-block with pilgrims. Dotted in every nook and corner of the state, these ancient temples showcase the religious dedication of Keralites. Completely different in architectural designs, Kerala temples are constructed in harmony with natural resources and climatic conditions of the state. Some of the most significant temples of Kerala are:
Guruvayoor Temple
A temple, famous all over India as a pilgrim centre, dedicated to Lord Krishna popularly known as Guruvayoorappan. The Sreekrishna idol of this temple is believed to have been worshipped by Vasudevar and Devaki at Dwaraka. This shrine popularly known as ‘Dakshina Dwaraka’ (Dwaraka of south) is in the form of a rectangle. There are a lot of mural paintings around the ‘Shrikovil’ (Shrine).
Guruvayoor, where the famous Sree Krishna Temple is situated, is one of the most sacred and important pilgrim centres of kerala. The walls of the sanctum sanctorum are inlaid with exquisite mural paintings and carvings.

Sabarimala Temple

Sabarimala is a renowned pilgrim centre atop the rugged hills of the Western Ghats. This holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. The sanctum sanctoram nestles 914 m above sea level, amidst the virgin forest wilderness of the Western Ghats.
The Village of Sabarimala is named after Shabari who did severe penance in order to meet Rama who granted her wish for her devotion and faith during her penance.
The main pilgrimage is undertaken between November and January. Regardless of caste, creed, colour, they wear black dhotis and carry on their heads, bundles containing traditional offerings like coconut filled with ghee, camphor and rice.Pushpendra singhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10843192661590242111noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-5965766835356063382011-06-16T04:32:00.001-07:002011-06-16T04:32:47.970-07:00Amarnath yatra crisis over, pooja held near the caveThe Amarnath Yatra crisis seem to have blown over after Hindu rights activists offered the first prayers near Panjtarni, six kilometres from the cave shrine.

Surinder Mohan Aggarwal and Karan Singh Charak, president and general secretary, Baba Amarnath and Buda Amarnath Yatra Niyas, which had threatened to start the yatra 15 days before the official date, accompanied by RK Goyal, chief executive officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) flew from Srinagar to offer prayers at Panjtarni along the Chandanwari-Holy Cave track.

It was for the first time that the Pratham Pooja was not held at the cave shrine. Aggarwal however played down the matter saying that Pooja was held at Panjtarni because the chopper could not land at the cave shrine.

"The chopper could not land at the cave shrine and therefore the pooja was held at Panjtarni. The authorities have assured us that yatra would start soon after the trek is cleared of snow and made operational for pilgrims," said Aggarwal

A major row had erupted over the decision of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board to curtail the duration of this year’s pilgrimage to holy cave shrine by 15 days. Niyas had threatened to take out yatra on their own from June 14. After hectic negotiations, the Niyas watered down their stand and agreed to hold the pooja before the official yatra starts on June 29.

Situated in a narrow gorge at the altitude of 3,888 metres, the holy Amarnath cave is 44.8 kilometres from Pahalgam. The Pahalgam – Holy cave trek is an ancient pilgrimage route which is covered in four days and there lies the ice lingam of Lord Shiva that is formed naturally, which waxes and wanes with the moon.

The new Baltal route is now preferred by the pilgrims since it is shorter (though steeper) than the ancient route. The private helicopter services operating there also makes the route a favourite among the pilgrims.

Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said Goyal also reviewed the ongoing Yatra-related works at the Panjtarni Camp which are progressing satisfactorily. He issued instructions to all concerned to ensure that all the arrangements need to be positioned on ground as per the envisaged time lines.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2819526478886159164.post-21601336497865026262011-06-16T02:25:00.000-07:002011-06-16T02:28:12.963-07:00Babulnath Temple - Mumbai
Babulnath is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, in Mumbai, India. Merely 1000 feet above the sea level, overlooking the Arabian Sea, the temple is located at the end of Marine Drive and south of the Malabar Hill.

Lord Shiva is there in the form of Babul tree who is the main deity in the temple of Babulnath. The faithful and devotees climb up to the temple easily and get Darshan of the shivling and blessings of the Lord Shiva. The use of elevator can also be possible to reach at the temple. There is the Bombay International School in front of the temple.

There was an interesting legend associated with the Baulnath temple. The place where the Babulnath Temple is situated, a rich goldsmith named Pandurang lived there with the cattle grazing around. But any care was not taken by Babul-caretaker of Pandurang's cattle stock. Suddenly a cow named Kapila stopped to give milk and it became daily affair. After reporting he noticed that the cow gave all milk at one spot before coming to home. His curiosity was increased about what the reason is behind. This happened again but he was overwhelmed when he saw a huge Shivaling there. This inspired to make Babulnath Temple on that holy place in 1780.

Here almighty resides at Babulnath Temple, you feel very tranquility and peace even in a city like Mumbai and it will be surprised to you. The splendor and grandeur of this temple make you forget the place where you are now and will make you feel the illusion of Mount Kailash, the eternal swelling of Lord Shiva. So many people prefer to visit this holy place in the quest of peace.

The ambience of Babulnath Temple stays bustling by chanting with mantras and eternal festivity. Thousands of devotees flock here to get bless of Lord Shiva. Mostly on Monday-the day of Lord Shiva, devotees come here in flock to offer prayers.Pushpender Singh Chauhanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14255470077105650311noreply@blogger.com1
